Chopin's Ballad No. 1 is the first of four ballads written by the Romantic composer.

The story of this piece is very special, because it comes from the deep sadness and anguish of Chopin to see how his friends and familiars residing in Poland fought against the oppression of the Russian empire in the November war, while Chopin he was in exile in Vienna.

This is one of the most played pieces in the piano repertoire. If you search in internet you can find countless performances but if I had to choose one, it would certainly be the reduced version that comes on the scene most famous of the movie "The Pianist".
